The idea of my logo is of a budding seed, which represents the growing and budding designer in me. Underneath the soil I put my family name “Yang” to represent that the root of my success and growth is always the support and love of my family. They are the root of me, without them I will not be able to be where I am at. I choose the colour turquoise blue to show that I am a very calm and chill person but very vibrant at the same time. The idea of this logo derived from the letter ‘o’ in the spelling of my name, ‘J-O-Y’. I started off trying to play around with the structure of my name and ended up creating a logo that represents me completely. I express everything using nature like the budding seed because I am a simple, nature-loving and introverted person, hence my simple and quiet design. How does this logo relate to me and the word ‘Joyful’? It is that the logo shows of a shy seedling yet cheerfully coloured. I am an introverted but joyful person. Hence all all the metaphors of this logo are quietly presented, just like my character.
The concept for my promo kit was actually inspired by the movie- A Bug’s Life by Pixar Animation Studios. The quote that remembered the most from that movie was that the ant named Flik picked up a rock and said “Here, pretend that that's a seed. I know it's a rock, I know. But let's just pretend for a minute that it's a seed, alright? We'll just use our imaginations. Now, now do you see our tree? Everything that made that giant tree is already contained inside this tiny little seed. All it needs is some time, a little bit of sunshine and rain, and voilá! ”
This quote didn't meant much when we first watched but it left an impression. Now thinking back, i substitute myself as a designer with that rock or seed. Everything that makes a great designer is contained within an amateur with determination to strive. All the “seedling” need is a little guidance and patience, and viola! It explains about who i am as a designer perfectly.
Soil is put into a test tube and when the user wants to plant the seeds, he can just throw the seeds into the test tube, water it, and he can grow directly from the test tube.
